Last month David Kemmerer of Olé Imports stopped by with several wines that had not yet entered our market. Three bottles particularly intrigued our palates and resonated with the shop's vibe. David offered to kickoff their Nashville release with a special in-store tasting. Come share in his enthusiasm and insight!
Founded in 1999, Olé is an intentional, small importer of Spanish wines. In the words of co-founder Patrick Mata, “I have searched the Spanish peninsula for wines that share four fundamental elements: terroir, quality fruit, exceptional winemaking and, last but not least, wines that present an exceptional value.” It’s not difficult to see why Patrick's wines thrive here.
On Thursday we’re opening a zippy, aromatic white from Basque country. As singular as the region it comes from, this wine blends riesling and folle blanche with the native hondarribi zuri, offering round texture that complements the racy indigenous variety. We’re also opening a mencía from legendary winemaker Raúl Pérez and a garnarcha and cariñena (aka grenache and carignan) blend from the Montsant region.
