After having run a wine bar in Park City, UT, Zev Rovine moved back to New York with the intention of working for himself. Without much money, the only business he could conceive of opening was that of a one-man importer.
Zev sought council & guidance from Justin Chearno, the current wine director and partner of Four Horsemen in Brooklyn, and the two traveled to France together to meet a few winemakers. Discovering that he couldn’t make it without speaking French, he quickly learned the language. And then he took a huge risk and signed on a handful of small, natural wine producers to bring back to the States.
Several years later and Zev Rovine Selections contains 130 natural wine producers from all over Europe. This Saturday we’re opening three bottles from a few of his most recent producers to arrive in the Nashville market. No, Zev’s not dead. In fact, he’s thriving, growing, making natural wine more accessible and blazing trails for more small importing companies.
